Justin shoved down his frustrations about leaving so suddenly, about Brian not talking about what was really going on, about Brian running away. He opened his mouth, thinking of something to say and how to say it, but, no success. He was silenced by Brian’s lips. When he pulled away, he sighed,…
Justin let out a low, long sigh. “Brian,” he said, keeping his tone soft and even. “I appreciate it, you know I do,” he said gently, stepping forward, and taking a seat so he was eyes level with Brian. “But I know you, I know when you’re avoiding something.” He chewed the inside of his check as he reached out for Brian’s hand. He could feel Brian being huffy, getting defensive and avoiding the question. “I know holidays are difficult,” he continued, his eyes still locked with Brian’s, who was avoiding his gaze. “Family things and what not…” He trailed off, “But you’re my family, you know…”

Brian grinned, slipping out of his chair to grab his lap top, he propped it up on the table and began to search. Money wasn’t an issue and in minute he’d booked two round trip first class tickets to Bermuda. “Bermuda it is, go pack, we’re leaving from here in two hours.” he grinned and tucked back into the breakfast feast, glad to be doing something active instead of sitting around waiting for family things. “We can call everyone from the beach.” he said, popping a strawberry into his mouth and collecting their plates. “Anything you don’t have we can get there, no get moving.” he grabbed Justin by the hips and kissed him slowly, enjoying the sweet taste of his lips.

He opened his mouth, thinking of something to say and how to say it, but, no success. He was silenced by Brian’s lips. When he pulled away, he sighed, and headed into the bedroom, starting to pack for Bermuda. “How long are we gone for?” He called out to Brian, as he shoved his things into a bag and Brian’s things into a bag. He padded back into the kitchen and leaned against a pole in the room, looking at Brian. “What are you running away from?” He asked gently, his eyes locked on Brian’s.

Justin frowned, as Brian avoided his eyes at first. Brian just looked at his plate, and Justin watched until he finally looked up. “You want to go out? Now?” He asked, a bit shocked. The snow was consitently falling and everyone was trying to get to last minute family things. Traveling would be crazy. More so, it would be the first Christmas Justin wouldn’t spend with his family. His family wasn’t so much his family anymore, and he was ok with that. His family was Brian. He eyed Brian, reading his expression, his reasoning for wanting to avoid anything holiday. Finally, ignoring his other thoughts, he nodded. “Sure. Let’s go somewhere,” he said softly, looking into Brian’s eyes.

“Brunch, breakfast, what the fuck ever…” Justin mused with a smirk, as he sat down in the chair across from Brian that he had pulled out for him. He dug into the pile of french toast, pouring a small amount of syrup over the top. Justin looked up as Brian thanked him, before digging into his own meal. He smiled, “You’re welcome.” He said, he loved doing little things for Brian. Between class and working at the diner, Justin had regularly been finding time to stop by Brian’s work, or run errands, or something. They both had, both starting to make little sacrifices, little plans around each other, and the thought mae Justin’s heart race. He had to force himself to breath in orer to not overthink it. He knew what they were and what they weren’t, even if everyone else had their own interruptations of it. He eyed Brian, being able to read him easily. He was worrying about Christmas, about what the family time may require.

Justin smirked as Brian pinned him, bending over to kiss his flavored lips. “Good morning to you too,” he whispered against Brian’s lips, not wanting to pull away just yet. It was strange, and slightly pathetic, how Justin could spend the whole night with Brian, spend almost all of his time touching and being with Brian, but he could still never get enough. The electricity that shot through him whenever he had any contact with Brian was addicting. He finally pulled away, gathering up two plates of french toast and two mugs of a mixture of coffee and hot cocoa, and placing them on the dining room table. “Christmas eve breakfast?” Justin offered, perking an eyebrow.
Justin rolled out of bed early Christmas eve morning. There was a thick dusting of snow all over Pittsburgh and still another coat was falling from the sky. Justin looked out one of the windows, his warm breath blowing against the cold window. He decided brunch would be a good thing to do, so Justin made his way to the kitchen to start heating a pan to make french toast. He hummed a Christmas carole or two to himself. It had been a good few months now that he was offically living with Brian, they felt…coupley, and it was a great feeling, not that Brian would ever verbally agree. Justin smiled as he finished brunch and plated the french toast with strawberries and made some coffee.
Justin could easily detect how much Brian wasn’t enjoying this. Everyone else seemed to be gaining energy as the night went on. Ben was telling a funny story about one of his classes, causing Mikey, Deb, and Mel to laugh and comment at all the right points. Justin hated seeing that look in…
Justin smiled during the dinner, his eyes occasionally drifting to Brian. He seemed to ease into the whole family thing. Although Brian would deny that anything put him on edge, Justin could see, could sense when Brian was on edge, and the family, holiday atmosphere was putting him on edge. After dinner, Justin seemed to find himself doing the dishes. He liked the calm and quiet of it. He looked up as he scrubbed the lemon fresh soap on the plates. He laughed, rolling his eyes as he turned to face Brian. “I feel like there’s some rule about being less….sex driven on family friendly holidays,” Justin teased, perking an eyebrow as he stepped closer to Brian, his fingers trailing up Brian’s chest.
Justin laughed, rolling his eyes at Brian’s comment. He would have said something else, had Emmett not then engaged him in conversation. He tried to laugh and chat normally, paying attention to Emmett, but his eyes followed Brian’s, who was eyeing Mikey, watching the interaction between Michael and Ben. Justin chewed the inside of his check, watching the emotion in Brian’s eye. If there was anything that sucked, it was their relationship, but he forced himself, like every other time, to push it aside. He was still chatting with Em, as the plates began to be passed around. He spooned some of the mashed potatoes, before passing them to Brian, still looking at Mikey.
Brian rolled his eyes at Mikey, taking the potatoes and spooning some onto his plate, passing around the rest of the food and laughing about whatever everyone else found funny. For once Brian Kinney didn’t want to be the life of the party, this simply wasn’t his thing, family style was never his thing though Gus, Gus was. He smiled as he played peekaboo with the little boy, his, and snuck a glance at Justin who always melted around the toddler. “Babylon later?” Brian asked leaning close enough to Justin that he was practically purring into his boyfriend’s ear.
Justin could easily detect how much Brian wasn’t enjoying this. Everyone else seemed to be gaining energy as the night went on. Ben was telling a funny story about one of his classes, causing Mikey, Deb, and Mel to laugh and comment at all the right points. Justin hated seeing that look in Brian’s eye. He’d never been keen on family. Justin smiled, however, when Brian began to play peekaboo with his son. Gus, now a toddler, sat in his chair in between his two mothers, across from Brian. Justin leaned into Brian’s whisper, a shiver running down his spine, something only Brian triggered in him. Babylon was not the first thing Justin would put on his list of things he wanted to do tonight. He had a lot of work for school to do and a lot of work before his upcoming art show, but he knew Brian needed Babylon tonight more then usual. “Of course,” he whispered back, kissing Brian’s jawline, which seemed to cause Gus to giggle.
Deb scoffed at Brian’s greeting. “To you too,” she shot after Brian, as he, as expected, made his way to the alcohol. Justin sighed and gave Deb an apologetic smile for Brian’s behavior. He hugged the older woman and chatted a bit before going to sit by Lindsey. The two were chatting about New York until Brian came to join them, handing Justin a glass of wine. “Thank you,” he said, with a smile, leaning up to kiss Brian on the lips. He heard a laugh from Deb who, with help from Mel, was bringing in some platters of food. “You two have to be so PDA at the Thanksgiving table, goodness.” But she smiled, enjoying that everyone was so full of love in her eyes. Justin laughed, “Of course, I’m thankful for Brian’s lips.” He said with a smirk, his nose crinkling as he sipped his wine.
“I could show you what I’m thankful for if you don’t remember what it looks like anymore Mel.” He said as she glared at him. “But I’m pretty sure I’ve been banned from bending Justin over the table, so, let’s pretend we like turkey and get to eating shall we?” he asked smirking. Everyone either laughed or rolled their eyes, but Brian kept his eyes on Mikey who, while at first had openly laughed was now looking more stern as Ben’s reaction altered his own. Fucker, he though bitterly, Mikey was his best friend, there should be rules about this.
